1. 1. Insurance Company Access. Ferguson & McGuire represents or has access to most of the major insurance companies. When we gain access to new markets, we attempt to extend the benefits of that carrier to all of our offices and affiliates.

2. 2. Market Stability. Whereas small agencies cannot provide the volume that the insurance companies are looking for today, our network provides the ability to satisfy the ever increasing appetite the insurance companies seem to be looking to fulfill. For several of the carriers, we represent the largest volume they receive from any agency in Connecticut. Also, our volume allows us to absorb the occasional large loss.

3. 3. Preferred Agency Contracts. The companies tend to extend to us their best-paying agency contracts because of our size and quality of our book of business. We, in turn, do all we can to make sure that our affiliates receive the same benefits.

4. 4. Profit Sharing Maximization. Again, because of our size and quality of our book of business, we tend to qualify for the preferred profit-sharing agreements. In at least one instance, where our volume exceeds their regular tables, a company is working to establish a special agreement just for us.

5. 5. Value Added Services. Over the years we have developed various systems to help our affiliates and ourselves to obtain and hold onto larger commercial accounts. These include risk management assistance, large account solicitation procedures and workers comp analysis, including use of the ModMaster system. This allows us to point out ways that prospects and current customers can save premium by improving their work comp experience. We have also established group purchasing arrangements that enable all of us to save expense money. We plan on extending this to other providers in the future.

6. 6. Ferguson & McGuire Reputation. Since 1938 this agency has worked to build an impeccable reputation both with the insurance companies and with the insurance buying public. We are proud of this reputation and will not allow anything to sully it. As a result, we turn down potential affiliates or acquisitions that we feel would not live up to our standards. The third generation of McGuires now running the business will continue and expand this reputation within the insurance industry.
